Cookinat is committed to the health and safety of our entire community. With the ongoing concern around the coronavirus (COVID-19), we want to arm our Diners and Chefs, and merchant partners with the information they need to know to stay safe when using our platform.

In order to keep yourself and those around you safe, we highly recommend the following:

1.- Follow proven CDC guidelines around hygiene.
Frequently wash your hands using soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Cover your nose and mouth when coughing and avoid touching your face with your hands. If you feel ill, stay home.

2.- Educate yourself.
The CDC and WHO are great resources for those with questions around COVID-19. Both organizations are trusted and continue to update their sites with new and relevant information.

3.- Follow community guidelines.
As always, and no matter the public health moment, we’re firm believers that you should treat everybody with respect. You can lose access to Cookinat if you are found to have discriminated against others based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sexual orientation, sex, marital status, gender, gender identity, age, or any other category protected under applicable law.

4.- Prevent community transmission.
If we are notified that anyone using our platform — Chefs or Diners — has tested positive for COVID-19, we will temporarily hold the account from using Cookinat until an incubation period is complete.

COVID-19 is an illness caused by the novel coronavirus. Coronaviruses can cause mild respiratory infections, like the common cold, but can also lead to serious illnesses, like pneumonia.

How is Cookinat keeping Merchant partners safe?

We continue to recommend per CDC guidelines that if anyone working at any business during this time is experiencing symptoms to stay home and refrain from food preparation. We also continue to recommend per CDC guidelines that our Cookinat refrain from performing services if they are experiencing symptoms.

What steps can I take to prevent an illness?

Heed the CDC’s commonsense guidance to ensure you are remaining safe and taking precautionary measures:

1.- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

2.- Thorough cooking and proper handling of raw meat products. Since viruses are very sensitive to heat, cooking food to the proper temperature is essential.


3.- The dishes are to be set on the table before the service begins (specifically before the guests are seated).

4.- Use of gloves and a face mask while performing a service. Note that you must toss and replace the mask afterwards.
- Avoid close and direct contact with guests as much as possible. Keep a distance of at least 6 feet.

5.- Surfaces and objects, including glasses, plates, bowls, cutlery or any material used to perform the service are to be cleaned thoroughly and as frequently as possible.

6.- If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.

7.- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

8.- Put distance between yourself and other people if COVID-19 is spreading in your community. This is especially important for people who are at higher risk of getting very sick.

Should I wear a face mask?

The CDC recommends that everyone wear a cloth face cover in public places, i.e., the grocery store. Cloth face covers are meant to slow the spread of the virus and protect other people from asymptomatic carriers. It is not a substitute for social distancing.

Simple cloth face covers fashioned from household items or made at home from common materials at low-cost (i.e., scarves, bandanas) can be used. Please refrain from using face masks meant for healthcare workers, such as N95 masks.

Cloth face covers should not be placed on young children under the age of 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, is unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.

What if I think my food is contaminated?

I’ve been diagnosed with COVID-19. What should I do?

If you have been diagnosed with COVID-19 by a medical professional and you have performed services as a Cookinat or are a Merchant on the platform, please report it to our team as soon as possible. Per CDC guidance, we will temporarily hold your account from using the Postmates platform to ensure your safety and the safety of our community.
Please also take the following measures per the CDC:
1.- Stay home except to get medical care. People who are mildly ill with COVID-19 are able to isolate at home during their illness.

2.- Avoid public areas. Do not go to work or school.

3.- Avoid public transportation. Avoid ride-sharing, taxis, trains, and other forms of public transportation.

4.- Stay away from others. As much as possible, you should stay in a specific room and away from other people in your home. Also, you should use a separate bathroom, if available.

5.- You should restrict contact with pets and other animals while you are sick with COVID-19, just like you would around other people. Although there have not been reports of pets or other animals becoming sick with COVID-19, it is still recommended that people sick with COVID-19 limit contact with animals until more information is known about the virus.

Food Safety Certification

As part of your onboarding, Cookinat will need a food safety Certification valid in the US.

You can get one on websites  like ServSafe or StatefoodSafety. This is valid only for independent  Chefs  and cannot be used for companies.

Background Check

As part of your onboarding, Cookinat will conduct a criminal background check with your consent. Potential U.S. Chefs must provide a valid social security number in order to undergo the criminal background check, which is conducted by a third-party company, Checkr, Inc. The background check searches national and county-level databases, as well as local courthouse records, for convictions throughout your adult life. This check also searches the United States Department of Justice Sex Offender Registry and the Federal Criminal Records database.
The results of the background check are reviewed by Cookinat and assessed against applicable regulations and Cookinat internal safety criteria. You may be ineligible to drive on the Cookinat platform if, at the time of your application, your background check results reveal that you:
1.- Are listed on the National Sex Offender Registry database;
2.- Have been convicted at any time of a disqualifying violent crime (such as homicide, kidnapping, human trafficking, arson, burglary, carjacking, robbery, or aggravated assault);
3.- Have been convicted at any time of a sexual offense (such as rape, sexual assault, or child pornography);
4.- Have been convicted at any time of an act of terror;
5.- Have been convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs in the past seven years, or longer in some jurisdictions;
6.- Have been convicted of a disqualifying fraud-related offense in the past seven years for most jurisdictions, although this time frame may be longer, or shorter, in certain jurisdictions;
7.- Have been convicted of a disqualifying drug-related offense in the past seven years for most jurisdictions, although this time frame may be longer, or shorter, in certain jurisdictions;
8.- Have been convicted of a disqualifying theft or property damage offense in the past seven years for most jurisdictions, although this time frame may be longer, or shorter, in certain jurisdictions.
Cookinat requires an up-to-date background check to remain on the platform. If you are returning to the platform after a period of inactivity, please contact us to ensure that your profile is current.

Cookinat reserves the right to disqualify a driver at any time, in compliance with applicable law, should their background check reveal any disqualifying offense or for any other safety-related reason.

1.- How are background checks affected by COVID-19?

Some background checks may be delayed due to court and DMV closures caused by COVID-19. If your background check is affected by these closures, you may be unable to go online or receive ride requests until your background check is completed. You can check the status of your background check by logging in to the Checkr Applicant portal.
We will continue to conduct continuous criminal record monitoring of active Chefs.
2.- How long will my background check take?

Typically, background check results will be available within 2-4 days. However, searches at the county level are subject to the availability of records from county courthouses. Some of these courts lack electronic records access, are understaffed, or are closed due to COVID-19, which can cause background checks to take several weeks to complete. You can check the status of your background check by logging into the Checkr applicant portal.

3.- I received a copy of my background check, but it is incorrect. I was not charged with the offense listed, or there is something inaccurate or incomplete about the information in the report. What should I do?

If you believe that the contents of your background check are inaccurate or incomplete, you may contact Checkr, Inc. (the company that provided the background check to Cookinat) directly by phone at 844-824-3257 or by using the Checkr applicant portal.
Please note that there is no time limit on when you can dispute the accuracy of your report with Checkr, but we encourage you to do so as soon as possible.
4.- I received a copy of my background check, and it is accurate. However, I believe there was an error. I do not believe I should be disqualified from Cooking for Chef based on my criminal history. What should I do?
If the information contained in your background check is correct, but you still have questions or would like to provide us with additional information. Contact us.
5.- I have applied to provide services on several “gig economy” platforms. My background check passed for those companies, but I was disqualified from cooking for Cookinat based on my criminal history. Why?
Laws governing “gig economy” companies may vary depending on the type of service being provided. Also, keep in mind that potential Chefs’ background checks must comply with Cookinat’s internal safety standards, which may be more strict than regulatory standards or the criteria of other platforms.
6.- I work with Cookinat, but I was notified that I need to pass another background check to keep cooking. Why? I already passed a background check when I initially applied.
Cookinat conducts background checks routinely on all active Chefs to ensure continued compliance with applicable laws and safety regulations. Cookinat may also conduct an additional background check.
7.- I am unable to access the Cookinat platform due to my background check. Why?
This may have occurred for several reasons. Your background check may have resulted in an error, or it may require further action. Please contact us to find out more.
8.- My ID Validation failed. Why? What does this mean?
All Social Security Numbers (SSN) are validated against multiple databases to ensure that the SSN matches the user applying to Cooking with Cookinat.
9.- My background check is ‘suspended’. What does that mean?
Your background check may require additional action with Checkr. You should have received an email from no-reply@checkr.com with instructions, or you can log-in to the Checkr applicant portal to view your status.

While your general liability insurance policy covers most claims, some accidents or lawsuits may be so catastrophic that they could exhaust the limits of your primary coverage, which should be a minimum of 300.000

If you’ve taken a reservation recently, you’ll see a line item on your emailed receipt that notes the fee, unless we quoted the Chef's upfront price before you requested it. When we give an upfront price, the service fee is included on your receipt.

Just remember, prices are all inclusive. That means they should include your time, transportation, preparation, ingredients, service, storage, among others.

When a customer books and pays for a service on Cookinat, there is nothing else left to pay afterwards (except for tips). If you need to rent equipment, you should include it in the price per guest as well as any additional materials needed to complete the service.

Will Cookinat accept my reservation automatically?

Nope! You must accept the reservations sent to you by the Diners. Remember to have notifications activated to not miss any opportunity

What happens if a diner cancels a reservation?

We hope this doesn’t happen, they won’t know what they’re missing. If this happened, we have a few options.

* If your Diner cancels their reservation inside your permitted cancellation time, we’ll notify you and automatically unblock the dates on your calendar so that you can receive other diners. The diner will get 100% refunded, including reservation fee and sales taxes.

* If your diner cancels their reservation out of the permitted time cancelation (24,48,72hs)

a. 48hs before your cancellation policy: The Cookinat support agent will then call you to determine if you’ve bought the products necessary for this order. Even if the diner cancels, as long as support can verify you made the reservation, you will still receive a payment for that reservation on your weekly payment summary.

b.24hs or same-day cancellations: We will charge the diner for the full price for the reservation, which includes the reservation, the reservation fee and taxes fee.

We believe that this is a decision for each chef, but we stipulate that an event should not last more than 4 hours from the arrival of the chef. This takes into account that you must prepare the food, give the service and leave everything in the same way that you found it when you arrived.

How and when will I receive the payments for my services?

Cookinat starts the weekly payment process on Tuesdays around 5 AM. It may take 1 to 3 business days before your deposit shows up in your account, depending on your bank's processing time.

If we’re unable to deposit your earnings, we’ll try again after you update your bank account information (or on the following Tuesday if you don't update your information).

Our collection system is Stripe Inc and all transactions are encrypted with their security methods. We do not have access to credit card, debit and / or bank account numbers.

Failed transfers

Your deposit may fail if your bank info is outdated or incorrect. We’ll send you a text to let you know if this happens. If we’re unable to deposit your earnings, we’ll try again after you update your bank information (or on the following Tuesday if you don't update your information). You can update your bank info in the Payout Information tab in your “My Revenue” > Balance Dashboard.

Cookinat Platform Fees are fixed, which means they can change. The amount includes the difference between what the Diner paid and your Chef earnings, tips and other charges (like sales taxes) which we use to offset costs like liability insurance on your dinners.

Cookinat Chef pays for a reservation through the app. Reservations fare includes:

* Adult price: The amount adults pay for a dish

* Kids price: The amount children (-12 years old) pay for a dish

* Fee Cost: Services costs paid to the Chef

* Sales Taxes: Taxes depending on each US State.

100% of tips from diners go to chefs. We have the tipping feature at the Cookinat app to help diners to say thanks, but diners may also tip with cash. Cookinat takes no commission from tips.

We can only transfer earnings to checking accounts. We can't deposit to savings or business accounts.

* Your wire transfer number has five digits and is on the left side of your check

* Your bank transit number, the three-digit number in the center of your check

* Your account number is a personal, 12-digit number shown on the right-most side of your check.

The transfer failed

If you get a failed transfer notice, you'll receive an email with instructions on how to update your bank info. We’ll try to deposit your earnings again immediately after you update your bank account information, even if you enter the same account info.

If you don't update your bank account information, we'll try to deposit your earnings the following Tuesday to whatever bank account information is still on file.

Transfers begin Tuesdays and usually show up in your account within 1 to 3 business days.

Common reasons for failed transfers:

* You haven't entered both your banking or tax info yet

* Incorrect banking info (such as typos in financial institution or account numbers)

* Business or savings account (we only transfer to personal checking accounts)

* You didn’t respond to the text asking you to confirm your bank info, which you’ll receive after you’ve submitted or updated your bank info

* Your bank doesn't accept Automated Clearing House (or ACH, a kind of electronic transfer). Most banks accept ACH transfers, but you may need to confirm with your bank if you’re having issues when receiving your deposit.

If you’re still not sure why you’re receiving failed transfer notices, contact your bank. Confirm your account status, Transit number, Financial Institution number, and Account number.

* How Chefs are classified

Chefs and Diners are users of the platform and aren't employees of the company. As members of the community platform, Chefs and Diners aren't entitled to benefits, worker's compensation, or unemployment insurance.

Cookinat is a peer-to-peer platform, meaning Chefs use their own knowledge to give services, who use the app to request a Diners reservation. Because Cookinat is committed to safety and community, Chefs go through a series of screenings, including background checks and insurances

* Proof of income: If you need to access a history of weekly pay statements, log in to the Cookinat Chef app My Revenue > Tax Documents > History. From there you can view your summaries and earnings by reservations, weekly, and year.

We've found that weekly pay statements or annual earnings will suffice for most cases (for example, loan applications).

How to view and download tax info and 1099 forms

We provide tax information for any given tax year by January 31st of the following year. Your Annual Summary and any 1099 forms you qualified for are available in your Cookinat Chef App.

1. In your app, tap ‘Search’. Select date & time, style food, price, etc.

1. Payment: This is the card that will be charged. To change your payment method, tap the credit card icon in the Payment bar then return to complete your payment.

2. Tap on your payment method at the end of a ride to choose which promotion you want to use.

3. Tap 'Submit. Once you tap the Submit button on the rating and payment screen, both your payment and rating is submitted to our system. We'll email you a receipt with all the payment info.

When your Cookinat reservation is over, you'll see the rating and payment screen.

1. First, rate your reservation. This is your chance to tell us about your Experience.

2. Ratings begin at 1 and go up to 5 (5 is the best!).

3. Leave any review about your experience in the comment box. Your feedback is shown to the Chef in your profile..

4. Add a tip if you'd like. You can also review the total amount of your Chef experience.

We understand that you have concern, we all have it! We do not receive any direct payments; our collection system is Stripe Inc and all transactions are encrypted with their security methods. We do not have access to credit card, debit and / or bank account numbers.

Cookinat gets a booking and Commission?

No. Cookinat applied a service fee and is added on at reservation. The fee helps support the Cookinat Platform and related services, including a broad spectrum of operating costs and safety measures like insurance and background checks. If you’ve taken a Reservation recently, you’ll see a line item on your emailed ride receipt that notes the fee unless we quoted the Chef's upfront price before you requested. When we give an upfront price, the Service Fee is included in a single total on your receipt.

b. 48hs before Chef cancelation policy: We will need to charge you the 75% price for the reservation. at this point which includes the reservation, the reservation Fee, and sales taxes

c. 72hs before Chef cancelation policy: We will need to charge you the 50% price for the reservation. At this point which includes the reservation, the reservation fee and sales taxes.

d. In the rest cases: The diner will receive the 100% of the reservation. Included reservation fee, and sales taxes. receive a payment for that reservation on your weekly payment summary.

How long is the Chef Reservation?

Our goal is that you always feel safe and comfortable when engaging with our product. Nothing is more important to us. For this reason, all chefs who use the platform must pass security processes.

* Background Checks: In addition to our internal review procedures, every Cookinat is screened before they’re permitted to deliver on our platform, through professional third-party criminal and DMV background checks. The criminal background check includes national and county-level databases and records. Among other things, Postmates denies access to our platform for violent crimes, felonies, sexual offenses, or drug-related convictions that appear on a background check.

* Insurance: For accidents involving other people, Cookinat maintains a $300K third party supplemental insurance policy that covers members of the Fleet from acceptance of a reservation opportunity until its completion. While this policy is supplemental to their personal insurance coverage, it demonstrates our commitment to maintaining a safe and reliable online marketplace and mobile platform.

* Safety food Certificate: is a third-party verification that products, processes or systems in the food supply chain meet accepted food safety standards. It is distinct from other systems of proof of conformity such as supplier declarations, laboratory test reports or inspection body reports. Food safety certification is based on the results of tests, inspections and audits and gives confidence to the consumer because an organization’s products and/or system are being thoroughly evaluated against accepted national and international industry standards by a competent third body. Product certification attests that a food product complies with the safety, fitness for use and/or interchangeability characteristics defined in standards, and in specifications supplementary to standards, where they are requested by the market.

* Secure Platform: All payment transactions, including tipping, are processed automatically on your payment card through the Cookinat app. This means you will never need cash on-hand.

The mobile numbers shared between our customers and Cookinat are masked so that real phone numbers are never exposed.Once a reservation is complete, the Cookinat no longer has customer contact information and the delivery address isn’t available to them any longer.

We will always work with law enforcement to share information that both protects the privacy of our community but also helps local authorities investigate any incident.
